a consciousness project

The installation seeks to trigger awareness from the fringes regarding the apathetic attitude of the public – the consuming body – towards the engulfment of our cities and the country - Ghana, by plastic waste, a plight spreading beyond urban centres into remote locations.

With plastic waste almost everywhere, even in places where more essential materials to sustain life such as safe drinking water are out of reach of citizens, it clogs up and constricts our spaces, services, and infrastructure. However, the general attitude towards the growing blight seems apathetic and desentitized, although disasters especially floods wreck life and property annually.

The installation places mirrored structural outlines of architectural forms that compose the city and culture on grounds wasted with plastic. The scene depicts the home, institution/ government; and trade by the forms with a cube; and kiosk, and religion with the mosque and church.
